TIPS:
Duck meat is good for the heart
The duck meat is one of the most healthy and delicious meats, extremely salutary when consumed in reasonable quantities. It is an excellent source of protein and B vitamins – there are 25-28% of the required daily dose B2 (riboflavin), B1 (thiamine), vitamin B6, 13% and 7% B12 in 100 g duck meat. The composition of the product contains a small amount of salts of folic acid and vitamins A, E, K (2 to 5% of the recommended daily dose).
Duck is extremely rich in selenium (32% of the daily rate) and phosphorus (20% of the required daily dose), it is also a good source of zinc, iron, copper; there are smaller amounts of potassium, magnesium, manganese, calcium and sodium.
Even though the duck meat is high in cholesterol, it also has fatty acids along with omega-3 and omega-6, which are good for the heart health. There are 65 mg choline (vitamin B4) and 8.4 mg of betaine in 100 g of duck meat. These two substances are important for the formation of the cell wall, the metabolism of lipids, conducting of the nervous impulses. Tests show that duck fat is rich in oleic acid (just as the olive oil is) that protects the cardiovascular system. It contains enzymes that regulate the metabolism and helps purifying the body of carcinogens.
